Summer came early and fast after a long and cold winter this year. After all the snow and winter that we had through April, it seemed like summer would never come! However it did, and we had July-like temperatures in May, and the kids were so happy for the chance to be outside—their favourite place to be. The boys are so very keen on camping, they have been for years, but it is me who is more hesitant and anxious to actually get up the nerve to go and do it. This year, it’s going to be different, though. We already have a camping trip booked, and I am truly so excited to experience this with the kids. Anything that can make my life easier as a parent, and keep my anxiety low, I’m all for it.
Though our family always has good intentions, we don’t seem to get to the lake as often as we’d like. If we can’t make it there this summer, I want to do lots of little day trips with the kids. I love to take them to the spray park in town, or even exploring new areas in the city for the day. Sometimes the best places to go are free! Exploring new parks and lakes and pathways and letting kids be kids. We also love to take day trips to the mountains, we are so lucky that we live so close to the Rockies and that Canmore and Banff are so easily accessible to our family.
Day Trips Made Easier
The kids absolutely love picnics, but with their dad’s busy schedule on the farm, it’s often me that is left to organize and cart around three boys and everything we need for a fun day trip. Anything that can make our traveling lives easier, I’m all for it. How easy is it for a kid to lug around a traditional-style cooler? Yeah, not so much; I find them quite awkward myself. Enter: the Bubba 2 in 1 Wheeled Cooler. It has a telescopic handle that makes it super easy for the kids to move it around, and they love helping out because they can pull it because it has wheels. No worries about soggy sandwiches or other foods, or keeping only certain items cold. The Bubba 2-in-1 boasts a split design, with 2 separate, stackable coolers. Keep food and drink separate, yet transport them together—brilliant!
One of the most favourite things that the kids love to do outside is hot dog and marshmallow roasts. We’ve been working hard on landscaping our yard and added a gazebo and fire pit area last year and the kids are really loving spending some quality family time outside. We have to get the food down somehow, and Bubba makes it super easy!
