Creating Christmas Photo Traditions With Kids

This post is part of the and Carter’s | OshKosh and #CartersOshKosh #Kidsentials sponsored program. I received compensation as a thank you for my participation.

I love traditions, I love Christmas, and I love photos to remember both of those things. I was absolutely delighted the first time I was able to put our two boys in matching and/or coordinating outfits! It started off with matching every day pajamas, and then we started our tradition of matching Christmas pajamas for all the kids on my side of the family.

Buy Matching Christmas Pajamas

Since we are a two hour round-trip from the city, I shop online any time I can. I was really keen this year and immediately bought maching 1-piece microfleece matching PJs from Carter’s | OshKosh for all 5 kids on my side of the family. They’re affordable, durable, it’s easy to catch a free shipping deal. They now come  in sizes all the way up to size 14, so the kids can all match in adorable Christmas PJs for years and years to come!Matching Christmas Jammies
Matching Christmas PajamasThis year Carter’s | OshKosh has these pink 1-piece fleece pajamas for girls and also different styles of pajamas in the same fabrics. I decided to get all 5 kids the same pajamas, so they’ll all blend together in a huge, cozy cousin huddle in front of the Christmas tree!

Take Photos Before Christmas

Get it done, and get it done early! I’ve started taking matching pajama and Christmas outfit photos of our boys before the actual day, as well as on the actual day. If there’s one thing I’ve learned in the almost 7 years I’ve been a parent (and 11 years I’ve been an auntie), it’s that kids are predictably unpredictable.

One year my niece decided she would not wear her Christmas pajama pants in the cousin photo in front of the Christmas tree on Christmas morning – which is totally understandable and acceptable when you have a toddler in the family! This is why I take photos of my own kids weeks before Christmas so there’s nothing else going on and no pressure for them.
Santa 2016I also love to go see Santa almost as soon as he’s in the mall. Last year I left our visit way too late in December and didn’t end up getting our Santa photo. This year I was well prepared. I ordered the boys their matching Buffalo plaid shirts from Carter’s | OshKosh and traditional 5-pocket corduroy pants in black. Check that one off the Christmas traditions bucket list!

Create Coordinating Looks

If matching the exact outfits doesn’t suit your family, or if your children are old enough to protest, Carter’s | OshKosh makes it really, really easy to create coordinating looks with their Holiday Shop category. Here are some of my favourite boy looks this holiday season!

If you can’t find the items you’re looking for online, be sure to check out a Carter’s | OshKosh store near you – I was just shopping recently and they had a big selection to choose from. Our very first Carter’s | OshKosh Christmas pajamas and outfits we bought for Braden 6 years ago are still in perfect condition, and I’m using them this Christmas season for Jonathan. They are durable and pass the test of time!
