I’m a dual purpose kind of gal. If I can buy something and it can serve me more than one purpose — that’s just smart shopping! So now that well along my way to preparing for another baby, I like clothes that I can wear while pregnant and that are post-partum and breastfeeding-friendly! Sometimes it may seem that maternity clothing can be a bit pricey, but it’s a good investment if you think you’ll have more than one baby, and if the clothing can double for post-partum wear.
The beautiful thing about well-made maternity shirts, is that they can often double as breastfeeding shirts. My very favourite style are the flowy styles, the ones that do not cling to your body. A tight shirt that hugs a growing pregnant belly is beautiful, but a tight shirt that hugs a post-partum belly…not really flattering for me! I’ll go flowy over clingy every day!
That’s why I was really excited to have the opportunity to review this (coincidentally named) “Sara” Nursing Top from Momzelle. Right now it’s available in 8 colours and since I’m having my first ever spring baby, I chose a nice spring colour in cool mint blue, it’s a beautiful, bright aqua colour!
Clearly you can wear it as a maternity shirt, I’m 28 weeks pregnant right now, and to be fully transparent I won’t be able to wear this top the whole way through my pregnancy because I’m so tall and have a long torso. I think I’ll be able to comfortably wear it for another few weeks. If I was of average height, I could likely wear this the full way through, I’m already outgrowing maternity shirts!
So what makes this Sara top a nursing top? There are panels on both sides of the shirt for access to the goods! You pull the top panel, like I’ve shown here, and then the inside one for access. I have never had an issue breastfeeding in public, especially with shirts like these…the only time I want to cover up is to hide my post-partum stomach and this does the trick for me!
This top is made from 95% Rayon and 5% Spandex — very soft and will not shrink. I am normally a medium or large top, depending on the sizing charts. I tend to reeeeeeeally grow (ladies, you know what I mean!) when I’m nursing, so I got a large to be comfortable and it fits me very well! I love this shirt so much I ordered another one in peach and a Josiane top for warmer weather.
