I don’t like going shopping much anymore. Like shopping in the “real” world, I mean! If you’ve been following this blog for any length of time you know how much of a fan I am of online shopping. With two little boys (one of them a baby who refuses to nap in his car seat still), the cold Canadian winters and often poor driving conditions, makes me want to do all my shopping from the comfort of my warm and cozy home…so I do! Since my family also lives far enough away, we always communicate by email to plan our Christmas and send our wish lists and draw names for Christmas gift buying. I was very happy to discover that Mattel has a Holiday Wish List maker for the kids! It’s really easy to sign up for and for Braden to pick some favorite toys he wants to ask for Christmas.
Mattel also has their Hot Holiday Toy guide up and were kind enough to send us one of them to try out. I, of course, picked the Thomas & Friends™ Trackmaster™ Quest for the Crown Playset for Braden. He has had his eye on this from watching the King of the Railway movie and we all know what a big Thomas fan he is!
I really like this set, it was a bit tricky to set up as the instructions weren’t crystal clear (are they ever!?) but if I can do it – so can you! Braden is thrilled and has been spending lots of time in our basement with it already. I told him that this is his early Christmas present so I’m very thankful that we are able to gift him with this and share it with you – thank you, Mattel! This is a great gift for any little Thomas fan and I know both boys will love it for years to come, I can easily see why it’s on the Hot Holiday Toy list!
Luckily I haven’t had any troubles finding the toys Braden wants and one key to that is being organized and buying before the big rush – especially if you’re online shopping! Make sure there’s plenty of time for shipping and if I do go out to a real store, I always go in the late evenings on a weekday when it seems to be nice and quiet!
What are your holiday shopping tips? Have you ever had troubles finding “the” perfect toy?
