We absolutely love our friends, the Zak’s, but their lives are insanely busy so we don’t get to see them as often as we’d like. They only live about 5 miles away from us, and their family’s grain farm operation runs about 1/2 a mile south of our house where their grandma lives and uncles work from. They aren’t involved as much with the grain farm operation…as you’ll soon see why!
They’ve gotten more and more cattle every year that I’ve known them and have added more and more animals to their homestead and have turned their land into quite the “funny farm”. We just call it that because I think you’d have to be a little bit crazy to live the life that our friends do – and I say that with the utmost respect. They have three children aged 8, 3, and 1. They have cattle, horses, ponies, pigs, sheep, chickens, roosters, ducks, and turkeys. I don’t know if you’ve spent much time around a farm to appreciate just how much work that actually is to feed and maintain things for that amount of animals!
Braden absolutely loved it! He loved that little lamb that their oldest daughter Katie is petting in the top corner. The little ducklings were darling, but my favorite guy was this cheeky piglet!
Jay was able to take a break from spraying to come with us when we went last week, and Ethan’s favorite animal by far was their black lab/collie cross Daisy. She’s such a sweet dog…and a very big suck!
Visiting Zak’s farm makes me really want farm animals…but also makes me realize there’s no way I’d ever want farm animals. Funny how that works! Braden had a ton of fun and we’re so blessed to call them friends! As he and their middle child, Tessa, get older…maybe Braden will want to spend lots of time at their farm helping.
