I am a self-proclaimed professional mamarazzi. I’m a mama…and a paparazzi to my children…you get the play on words…. But I am not, nor do I long to be, a professional photographer. I love learning about photography and editing, and I’ve done it all online. I would love to go to classes, but living in the country, it’s just really not that possible for me right now. I love to look back on my pictures of when I first got my first DSLR, my Canon Xti, and started taking pictures of Braden.
It took a lot for me to not re-edit that picture at all (or the one below)! But it’s nice to look back and see how far I’ve come. I’m not trying to toot my own horn at all, but I’ve just learned so much and it’s helped me to capture precious memories that I will cherish forever. One of the things that I have learned the most on my photography journey is to focus on the details and the little day to day things that happen. To take out my camera, even at home, as much as possible and not just at family events, parties, and outings.
This blog makes me get out my camera on a regular basis and that’s one of the things I love about blogging. I have learned the most about photography and editing from other bloggers. Not even online tutorials – it’s all from this amazing community. So, I wanted to “give back” in a sense!
I got in touch with my good friend Mindi from Simply Stavish who also has a passion for photography, and we put our blogging brains together. I told her I wanted to co-host a monthly link up with her to encourage ourselves and our readers and fellow bloggers to pick up their cameras and focus in on their photography. Mindi is currently taking photography classes and the light bulb went on for both of us and we came up with “Catch the Moment”. It will be our monthly link-up and here’s what it’s all about…
Catch the Moment
Setting up photo shoots with your kids is fun…but also sometimes stressful! We want to encourage you for one day a month (or more!) to pick up your cameras and “Catch the Moment”. Focus in on the little details of your day and those awesome candid shots! A smiling portrait makes for an awesome picture…but some of my favorites are catching the little moments, those little details that you want to remember forever! That above picture is Braden playing with his Thomas LEGO DUPLO set at 22 months and it’s one of my favorites! Then compile your pictures into a blog post to link-up with us!
When?
Please join us for our link-up the first Monday of every month. The linky will be open for a week on both my blog and Mindi’s. The first Catch the Moment linky will start on March 4th! Don’t worry, we’ll tweet about it and post it on Facebook. Speaking of which…

I'm a nurse who married a farmer and I'm a boy mom of 3 to Braden, Ethan and Jonathan. I love blogging about family life, farming, recipes and embracing my role as farm wife and mom. I'm knee-deep in tractors, trains and trucks and I'm often seen with my camera in my hands catching life's moments.

I read your blog.That was fantastic.I like your blog.Thanks a lot.
I guess from today's post about photos that you must still be doing this so assuming it is ongoing. New to linking so i'm not quite sure how people link their actual post and not just their blog site. I'll have to work on that. I love photography and unedited beauty.

You take some amazing photos! It's sad that my really nice camera is packed away in storage right now and I am relying on an iPhone or a Nikon Cool Pix for my photos. The shame … Agh!
